Victoria Baths Wedding Photography
Relaxed Natural Photography
This fantastic day started when I recieved Lucy’s e-mail asking me if I was available to provide their Victoria Baths wedding photography. I think my first sentence began with ‘I can safely say, that if you book me for your Victoria Baths wedding photography, you will instantly become my new best friend….and they did!
I love Victoria Baths, it has to be one of my favourite venues, if not thee favourite. Having been their once before for the wedding of Emma and Tim, I was absolutely over the moon at the prospect of shooting their again.
On this occasion I was joined by the very talented Jenny Appleton and the day started for us at Lucy and Rickard’s home with Lucy while she, her mum, her sister and Rickard’s sister were pampered by Lois Pickup Makeup. As well as capturing these moments it was lovely having Lucy & Rickard’s youngest son around. This made for some really sweet shots while he and his grandad tackled jigsaws and kicked the ball about the back garden. I love this part of the day. It’s always full of a mixture of excitement and anticipation.
Ceremony at Victoria Baths
Lucy was completely relaxed during the morning, not phased by anything and this theme continued throughout the rest of the day. I was able to pop over to Victoria Baths a little before Lucy’s arrival, so this was a great opportunity to get some natural shots of Rikard (also cool and collected) while he greeted his family and friends. So many characters, I knew the day would not be boring and they didn’t disappoint. Such a warm, friendly….and cheeky group of people.
The ceremony, which took place in the males first class pool followed suit and was wonderfully relaxed and had quite a few laughs, which is a dream for me as it makes for much more interesting and natural photography. After the ceremony it was into the Turkish Baths for reception drinks and a great opportunity for me to capture more unposed, natural images of Lucy, Rickard and their guests, which involved lots of laughter !
One of the great quirks of having your wedding at Victoria Baths, not only are you surrounded by history and are in such a unique place, your guests get the full tour. So while Lucy and Rikard’s nearest and dearest were taking in the sights, this provided the perfect opportunity to explore and get the most out of the countless photography opportunities, as well as giving the new Mr & Mrs a few moments to themselves.
It was then time for everyone to head into the sports hall to eat and after the wedding breakfast it was time for some heartfelt and witty speeches by Lucy’s proud father, her sister, Rickard and of course the best man, before hitting the dance floor and really letting their hair down.
Below are just a few shots from a very special day and my second chance of Victoria Baths Wedding Photography
